Memorial Day - Never Forget
For those of you that have known our company for a while, you probably have figured out that while most companies shy away from strong statements on anything that could be polarizing, we don’t have an issue with taking a stance on just about anything. We’re loud and outspoken on lots of stuff…having fun, saving our planet, and speaking out about things that resonate deep down in our hearts.
One thing that resonates with me is a deep sense of patriotism. I grew up in Washington DC and saw all the good, the bad and the ugly that surrounds politics, power struggles, and the wranglings that go along with the governance of our nation. It also imbued in me a sense of history and pride that I cannot shake. Pride in the courage of our forefathers and all the leaders that have taken the bold strokes in history. Pride in the decisions that have brought us to the great status that we have today. I still marvel at the thought of the original colonists and the immigrants along the way that left everything behind for the dream of a better life. When it comes to the American gene pool, there is a heavy dose of whatever gene makes up a dreamer, an optimist, or a person of valor. Without those traits it wouldn’t have been an easy decision to close the family farm and get on a boat headed into the unknown.
So, on Memorial Day, we have a chance to remember those that have given the ultimate gift to us…our freedom. They paid for it with the ultimate price…their lives. We are asked to remember them. To honor them. We must ensure that their sacrifice was not in vain. Please, take a moment today to do so. Thank them in your hearts. Send your prayers to them. Pray not only for those that have passed on, but the living that are still in harms way. Most of all, do something special to teach your children about those that went before us.

The Sisterhood of the Traveling Spice!
Remember that cute movie, “The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants”? Well, we have our own version of that movie in the Pink Room and it revolves around a One-of-a-Kind Lush Paisley Be Spicy Diaper Bag (although she answers to many nicknames…Lush, Lushie, Ms. Spice, Lush Spice, Spicy, Traveling Spice, etc…)
Here are all the details of how it works. She travels from mama to mama and she gets to spend a week at each person’s home. The host takes pictures and writes something in a little book and then sends it to the next person on the list. We think it is safe to say that she is the most well traveled diaper bag in the history of diaper bags!!
We asked the amazing organizer of Traveling Spice to sum up the stats for us and this is what Shaina said…
Let’s see… Lush has visited 98 ladies, 8 different countries, 28 states in the U.S., 4 provinces in Canada, and 4 of the 6 states in Australia. And this August she will have been on the road for 4 years!!! She still has 110 ladies to visit, with more signing up all the time! And she made it to the Pink Lady Get-Together in 2010. Also, she has suffered damage to her straps, been repaired, washed a number of times, picked up lots of trinkets along the way, and even had a pair of stow-away black lace panties that made it from Singapore to Korea! LOL!
Thanks for the update Shaina!! And thank you for all of the dedication and organization that you have donated to Traveling Spice since she started her travels in 2008!!! Also, a HUGE thank you to each of the wonderful women who welcomed Lush into their homes and shared a piece of their lives with this fun community! You might not all be pictured below but you are all an integral part of the Lush Spicy History!

Miss Spice has a myriad of interests, occupations, and hobbies (including eating, baking, shopping, playing the piano and violin, exercising, chilling in the Pink Room, playing at the park and zoo, reading, napping, riding on trains, sipping some wine, gardening, hanging out with her other lush friends, lecturing to a crowd of her minions, going to church, swimming, playing with her Star Wars friends, walking her dog, routing for her team, going to Phantom of the Opera, and the list goes on!!) She loves celebrating all the holidays too!

We are in awe of the sisterhood in the Pink Room and think it shines forth so beautifully with The Sisterhood of the Traveling Spice!!

My favorite memory thus far was when owner Kristin’s cute little 4-year-old daughter hung out in our office and drew pictures and wrote sweet notes to me! We also went through fabric swatches so we could discuss our favorite Ju-Ju-Be prints.

How long have you been with Ju-Ju-Be?
I’ve been with Ju-Ju-Be since April 2, 2012…a whole month and half (which has been, of course, the best month and a half of my life)! 
Describe a typical day for you in the world of Ju-Ju-Be.
Each day I get to work with our awesome sales reps throughout the country (and distributors) to make sure they have everything they need. The great thing about working for Ju-Ju-Be is there is no shortage of things to do. Each day is an adventure! I love getting to dabble in a little bit of everything!
What’s your favorite print?
I love Marvelous Mums (green is my favorite color). I also love the Brown/Teal Behave!
You’re stranded on a desert island with ONE JJB bag. What is it and why?
My Behave! There’s a special pocket for my sunglasses and an insulated pocket for my water bottle! Then, of course, there are a zillion other nooks and crannies for me to carry all the essentials…a book, Burt’s Bees chapstick, sunscreen, Altoids Smalls wintergreen mints, bobby pins, a camera…I bet I could even fit a beach chair in there!

Outside of Ju-Ju-Be I like to spend my time hanging out with my hubby and my cute nieces and nephews. I also love relaxing on the beach in the warm sun with a good book.
