Mint Chip

A drip, perilously poised at the edge of the cone, catches her eye. She “helps” her darling daughter with a single quick lick and removes the small melted mound. Upon sampling a crunchy chip of cacao among the melting mint cream, she decides that a single taste definitely isn’t enough.

Early Sunrise

In the pre-dawn glow she awaits the sunrise. Her baby nods off to sleep again, and she knows that she should rest, but instead she watches in wonder as the early grey gives way to earnest orange and hints of other hues, including minty green. As the glowing globe of the sun emerges, she succumbs to the siren song of slumber, closing her eyes and allowing the light to bathe her back to sleep.
